Frequenly Asked Questions

  • What is EMDR?
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a form of therapy that helps people who have experienced trauma, distressing events or anxiety. It’s a unique therapy that incorporates eye movements (or other sensory stimulation) to help your brain process past experiences in a healthy way. EMDR targets the root-cause of emotional pain, which allows you to reprocess memories in a way that reduced their intensity and impact. The goal of using EMDR is to lessen anxiety and move forward with greater peace and confidence.
  • What is Attachment-based therapy?
Attachment-based therapy focuses on how early relationships shape your emotional patterns, self-worth, and connections with others. By exploring these dynamics, you can heal relational wounds, develop healthier ways of connecting, and build a stronger sense of security within yourself. This approach helps foster deeper, more fulfilling relationships—both with others and with yourself.
  • What is Expressive-Arts therapy?
Expressive arts therapy is a multidisciplinary approach to healing that uses creative processes—such as drawing, sculpting, music, writing—to help explore and express inner experiences. It’s particularly useful when traditional talk therapy feels limiting, offering an alternative way to process emotions & gain insights. You don’t need any artistic skill to benefit; the focus is on expression, not perfection. Expressive arts therapy can be a stand-alone approach, or used in conjunction with other forms of therapy.
  • What is IFS therapy?
IFS is a type of therapy that focuses on understanding and working with the different parts of yourself. It is based on the idea that we all have various internal parts that make up our personalities, and that these parts can sometimes conflict with one another and cause us distress. IFS therapy can help people develop a deeper sense of self-awareness and self-compassion.
  • How do I know what my overall cost for therapy will be?
You are entitled to receive a Good Faith Estimate at the beginning of therapy. The Good Faith Estimate provides you with an estimated cost of services you can expect to pay, based on your needs when we first meet. Your actual cost of services will depend upon the number of psychotherapy sessions you attend, your individual circumstances, and the type and amount of services that are provided to you.
  • What forms of payment do you accept?
I accept cash, all major credit/debit cards and HSA cards.
  • Can I get therapy services reimbursed by my insurance company?
Each insurance company has its own rules and policies about what they cover and/or reimburse. It is up to you to contact your insurance provider to see if they offer reimbursement for out-of-network mental health services. While I do not work directly with insurance providers, I can supply you with documentation that your insurance company will need to determine if they will reimburse.
  • Why private pay?
Private pay therapy allows you to take control of your mental health and invest in your own wellbeing. Paying for services out-of-pocket allows you to have access to the care you need quickly and easily, without worrying about insurance restrictions and coverage. You can choose a therapist that is the best fit for you and have greater flexibility around privacy and length/type of treatment.
  • Do you take insurance?
At this time, I'm only contracted with one Employer Assistance Program (EAP) called Lyra. I am considered an "out-of-network" provider for any other insurance company.
