Hello,

I'm Cynthia (she/her/ella).

Welcome to Bloom Therapy Services.

Deciding to start therapy is such an investment in your future self and wellbeing. For some people, starting therapy has been a long time coming and it's a relief to finally start the journey! For others, it can be a bit scary to take this first step. Whether you're ready to dive in or are feeling a bit nervous, know that I'm here to guide you through.

As a trauma-informed therapist, I firmly believe that we all have the capacity to grow. My goal is to give you a space to do just that, with intentionality and curiosity throughout. My therapy style is goal-oriented yet laid-back, with a touch of sarcasm sprinkled in. We'll work in collaboration to figure out what therapy goals fit your needs and get you on a path towards healing.

A Little About Me

I'm an Arizona native, born and raised in a small border town called Nogales. Growing up in such a unique environment was a foundational experience. It's framed how I relate to people and learned to honor other's culture and background. Because I'm fluent in Spanish, I also know how impactful it is to be able to connect with others through their preferred language. I've spent a good many years deconstructing and examining my Mexican heritage and overall ethnic identity. I don't have it fully figured out yet, but I do my best to honor what came before me while creating healthy traditions for the future. â€‹

I currently do life with my husband, two children & our tiny pup Rosita. I have a large extended family/support system & am so thankful when I get to spend quality time with them. I've always had a love of learning and usually have a book or podcast I'm currently into... I'm a self-proclaimed nerd! I love to travel and am always open to good trip/food recommendations. Being in nature is one of my favorite self-care activities. So is watching anything Star Wars (yes, even the prequels). I enjoy the serenity and freedom of creative projects. I'm also highly competitive and will take a game night way too seriously.

My work as a therapist has not only been informed by my education and training over the past 10 years, but also by my life experience and unique perspective.

Professional Background

I completed my undergrad at the University of Arizona (Go Cats!) and a few years later my Master of Social Work through Boston University.

Once graduated, I spent years working as a therapist in a community mental health setting. I got to work with people from all walks of life and was introduced to some of the most foundational experiences and knowledge I still rely on today. Apart from doing tons of therapy and case management, I facilitated therapy groups for survivors of domestic violence, taught anger management classes,  learned the ins/outs of the child welfare system & truly began honing my expertise in the effects of trauma.

I moved from Tucson to Phoenix area and joined a large Child Advocacy Center where I specialized in treating child abuse/neglect and complex trauma. One of the most unique things about this role was working with multidisciplinary teams- other therapists, legal experts, victim advocates, forensic investigators, hospital/medical staff & law enforcement. The complex and high-need nature of this role also required me to complete extensive training in EMDR, attachment theory, play therapy, sand tray, narrative therapy, polyvagal theory, StoryPlay, Internal Family Systems (IFS) and expressive arts therapy. I learned to draw on these different techniques and provided integrative therapy as unique as each person I worked with.

When I transitioned out of the advocacy center, I chose to work in private practice so I could have the freedom to continue this type of integrative care. Working outside the constraints of insurance/managed care meant I could provide extensive and highly-tailored therapy services that clients truly needed. So after a couple years in a local group practice, I made the leap and started Bloom Therapy Services.
